NOTE: This description has been modified from the printed catalog to reflect that the LOA is from PSA/DNA.

"Para bailar La Bamba", with these opening lyrics a youthful Ritchie Valens (d.1959) electrified the emerging 1950s Rock 'n Roll scene. Based in California, the Mexican-American teenager struck radio waves and performance halls like a bolt of lightning. Sadly he was taken away much too soon, going down in a plane crash with the legendary Buddy Holly and others on 2/3/59, "the Day the Music Died".

Valens' dynamic performances help put "Chicano Rock" on the map and sixty years later, his short but powerful body of work is still going strong. Given that his musical career lasted a very brief three years, his autograph positions at the zenith of rare rock music memorabilia.

Reach for the stars with this certified 8x10 publicity photo, signed with a personalized salutation by Valens. Published by "General Artists Corporation", this 8x10 black & white glossy presents in handsome (EX-MT) condition, with deference to unobtrusive pinholes at the corners. Positioned in the field at left, Valens super-rare ("5") strength blue ballpoint pen signature shows ink breaks but remains clearly recognizable, appearing as "To Roz, Best of Luck always from Ritchie Valens". Full photo LOA from PSA/DNA.
