The most recent of Stark's rare Cobb portraits to reach auction was an A's-era depiction that sold for just under $10,000 in 2014. Whereas this superior piece captures the legend in his Tiger prime. Judging by the collar style, it would specifically appear to be 1914 or 1915—Cobb's 8th and 9th straight AL batting crowns. A striking, 16x20 creation, the three-quarter-length batting pose demonstrates all the hallmarks of Stark's photorealism and is the ultimate artistic tribute to the Georgia Peach. Exquisitely framed.
